Oral Presentation
Overview
For this assignment, we were supposed to give an oral presentation about an IT related subject to our classmates and our instructor. We were also required to write about our subject using the writing skills learned in the course. The subject was supposed to be presented in slides using Microsoft PowerPoint. The time designated for this assignment was 10 minutes for each presentation.

Notes
I took my first Communication course when I started as a CST student in January 2009. I learned a lot about different aspects of business communication; one of those aspects, which I always terrified about, was giving presentations in public.
I was nervous to give this presentation since it was posted. I started practising for it in different ways, like talking about my subject in front of mirror or record myself when giving a presentation to an imaginary audience. I then looked at my recorded presentation to recognize my mistakes. On the day of presentation, I felt nervous and shy before it was my turn. However, after a few seconds that I started my presentation most of my fear was gone and things did not seem as scary as I thought. The only problem that I had and I was aware of that during my presentation was that I had many ums. I knew I was not suppose to make them but they were giving me time to think of the right word as I am not a native English speaker. I was nervous about controlling them and sometimes lost my focus because of them. I felt much better after giving that presentation and actually got very good feedback from my instructor on that assignment which turned out to be my best assignment in that course. I realized the more I give public presentation and the more I attend other people’s presentation the easier they become. Therefore, I am planning to work on those tasks during summer. I am thinking to give voluntary presentations about my program or about computer languages to small groups in schools. I think young children will also enjoy hearing about how many exciting things they can do if they learn those languages for example they can write codes for games (interesting).
I now have a better understanding about the standards of business communication particularly giving presentations and have more confidence when it comes to speaking in public.
